I spent awhile scanning the diaries for Armando's inevitable triumphant diary on the Florida Gators championship Monday night but I realized maybe Armando doesn't hang on our every word when college sports are invloled.Armando aside, this was the worst final four ever, or at least since I can remember. The first championship game I can remember watching with a rooting interest was Villanova's awesome win over Georgetown in 85. Yeah I've seen the miracle NC St. shot against Houston a million times but that Villanova team cemented it for me when I was a kid.
Why was this year's Final Four so shitty, then? First, the George Mason interlopers. Yeah, it was a nice story, team named after the most liberal of the founding fathers who sadly became known as the center of wingnuttery in legal education. They didn't belong. The Patriots lost to Hofstra twice (who smeared my alma mater in the NIT. Basketball season is only a short break between the bowl games spring football anyway.)
Anyway, I'd write about how the new limitations on the NBA draft have affected the college game and the corruption involved in said game but it's late.
Congrats to the Gators and it's too bad their football team has gone downhill.
